SUMMARY

Part of the complete cycle of Bach cantatas presented in Bourgie Hall by the Arte Musica Foundation

Regarded as a genius, Bach—great believer that he was—managed to convey the sense of intimacy of the texts he set to music in his cantatas. Much like in a sermon, the theological message imparted therein recalls that the truths of the Faith are essential for crossing through the valley of tears. In cantatas BWV 22, 97, and 150, Jesus asks us to follow him and, in spite of adversity, to live by his commandments, so that his sacrifice may protect us from all harm, bring us joy, and assure us of eternal life
