SUMMARY

Alongside a sonata for flute composed by Giovanni Battista Platti in Würzburg, little-known cantatas by Johann Adolf Hasse and Georg Philipp Telemann will accompany a few of the nine moving Deutsche Arien that Handel composed to short, piously naturalistic poems by pastor Heinrich Brockes. Handel became aware of these during his last visit to his mother on the continent in 1727, three years before her death at age 79.
