Many composers have poignantly paid tribute to their predecessors, often at the time of their passing. We are bringing you a few of these moving works, both from the Renaissance and our own era, which express their composers’ sorrow, admiration, and gratitude. The program also includes Cipriano de Rore’s Missa Doulce Mémoire. The work’s name is derived from the love song on which it is based but, for all of us, it could just as easily evoke the memories of loved ones who, in one way or another, have mattered to us throughout our lives…
