SUMMARY

In 1672, a fire raged through the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in London. It was soon rebuilt and named the King’s Playhouse, hosting the finest actors and musicians in the kingdom before it too was replaced in 1791. In this concert evoking a century of London musical life, songs by Purcell and Handel are paired with trio sonatas by Augustine Arne and Giaccobbe Bassevi Cervetto.
